One of the perks of being a travel consultants is to have discount cards from our vendors. Last week, I got my Famous Agent membership kit all the way from Chicago, yay!

Famous Agents is the industry’s most exciting travel agent education and rewards programme. Members reap rewards from all three of our extraordinary brands: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, which boast over 90 properties around the world.

When we booked a room in Fairmont Makati last January 2013, their rate is around 12k per night, but we got a discount so we only paid 9k I guess. Still expensive right? With this card, I can book a room for as low as 3199PHP/Night. I tried to check availability for my birthday and here’s what I got:

That’s a huge discount right? So thank you so much FRHI.

Goodbye Nanay Yaya

July 16, 2016 around 4am-ish. My granny passed away. It was heartbreaking and awful. It was my sister’s wedding last January when I last saw her- She was wearing her bright red dress that we bought for the wedding. She met my boyfriend, and she liked him immediately. She even asked him when are we getting married. We smiled and answered, soon nanay yaya, soon, so make sure you’ll be there on my wedding day. But, no, that’s not gonna happen. She left us. She already left us.

She’s the one who taught us to say po at opo at all times, or else. Told us to say goodmorning, good afternoon, good evening to someone who visited us etc. She taught a lot. And that's what me missed about her.

My dad broke down. He cried his eyes out. He weeped and so my brothers. 2016 has tested my heart. I’m not gonna let depression win. I’ll take a rest. I’ll let my heart heal. I will ask God to heal my heart and hold me close. God is my strength.

Dinner Buffet - Vikings Sm Jazz

Kingsley had just returned from Perth, so we decided to have our dinner buffet at Vikings SM Jazz. It was raining cats and dogs today, so we considered canceling the reservation. Actually, I was two hours late for work due to the Makati flood, heavy rain, and gusty wind. Thank goodness it stopped by midday. Yey!

By the way, we're having this dinner to honor Iara's outstanding work as a travel consultant. She was nominated by our Perth counterpart and received a #GemAward for People and Culture!

Wow. Just wow. She's one of the best travel consultants in CWT and we're just lucky to have her in the team.

6:00pm came. We all logged out with that smile in our cute faces. Hahaha 😁

Work hard then eat like a Viking! Come on, let's see how many plates/round can we handle.

We left Vikings around 2100 or so. It was an awesome dining experience, I'd say. Thanks Iara and team for this tummy-filling dinner, burp!! Till our next food trip 🍴

My Ginataang Munggo Recipe

I have been wanting to eat Ginataang Munggo for the past few days because of the cold weather. I haven’t eaten this for quite some time, and when I say quite some time, that was eons ago. If I remember it right the last time was on 2006 when we were still in Quezon Province. Hahaha. 10 years, man! So, let me share you my humble Ginataang Munggo recipe.

What you Need:
-          Half a cup of Munggo  ** I used the green ones, but I guess the sweet (black) one is better
-          1 Cup of Malagkit, washed  (sticky rice)
-          4 cups of Coconut milk
-          Sugar to taste
-          Latik (for toppings)

Now, let’s start cooking.
-          Heat the pan and toast the (Munggo) beans until brown, do not burn the beans!
-          Turn off heat, transfer the beans to a bowl and let it cool down
-          Using a mortar and pestle, slightly break and crack the beans – don’t over do it, you doesn’t want to have a powdery munggo , then set aside.
-          Heat the cooking pot  and pour in the coconut milk, bring to boil.
-          Add the malagkit rice, stir .Let it sit for atleast 10mins, then add in the Munggo Beans.
-          Cook in low heat for atleast 20mins or until the rice are completely cooked and the coconut milk has been properly absorbed.
-          Stir occasionally.
-          Add sugar to taste. You can also add half a cup of evaporated milk if you wish.
-          Turn off heat and Serve!
-          You may add the latik on top

This is one of my favorite meryenda/snack when I was a kid, ansabe ng Risotto ng Italya? Hahaha.  Try it and bring back your childhood through this yummy ginataang munggo J

{Quote of the Week}

You will fall in love with someone who’s cold and always seemingly pushing you away. When all is said and done, they will be forever known as the one person you couldn’t get to love you. Unfortunately, it will hurt and sting worse than the good ones, the ones that chopped up your meat for you and picked out an eyelash from your eye and were nice to your mother, because love often feels like a game we need to win. And when we lose, when we realize we couldn’t get what we ultimately desired from a person, it makes us feel like a failure and erases all the memories of those who loved us in the past.
